Macro trends like climate change, supply chain reconfiguration, and a shift in the world economic order have led automotive companies to rethink their strategies. In addition, stricter regulations like Germany’s Supply Chain Act and the acceleration of sustainable mobility continue to drive the whole industry’s transformation. The focus on sustainability is redesigning the traditional supply chain, from electric batteries to electric highways to sustainable production processes. Alongside electrification, a complete metamorphosis of the car is taking place. Customers are reimagining their relationship with the car, embracing it as a smart device and enjoying hyper personalization enabled by faster networks and advanced algorithms. With rapid advancements in technology, the very identity of cars has changed from a classically defined product to one defined by its software. Today, customers expect to engage with their cars in ways that offer them valuable insight and services. How can original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) capitalize on this evolution? They can do so by offering built-in services to grow revenue streams. At the same time, they must expand their ecosystems to provide customers with complimentary products and enhanced services or look for ways to monetize their data. |

As manufacturers become more connected and adopt service-based business models, digital business models are transforming from linear value chains to more integrated ecosystems. In embracing ecosystems, manufacturing organizations can become more resilient by improving the interaction with clients and business partners, entering new sales channels, speeding up the time-to-market for products and establishing new growth opportunities.
Automotive original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs) climate targets call for reducing greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs), improving fuel efficiency and transitioning to electrification. From developing strategies to unlock data for better decisions to accelerating innovation, our proven Sustainability & ESG Advisory services enable clients to address various challenges across their organization’s value chain.
Market differentiation will depend on how automotive players offer, package, and monetize their value-added services. Supporting customers with streamlined e-commerce and channel management can provide a more efficient, convenient, and personalized shopping experience while giving automakers greater control over their sales and marketing data.
Through our global insights and local experts, we help build strategies and deliver services and solutions that achieve tangible outcomes. Here are examples of proven use cases where we have supported our automotive clients' transformation journeys

We’re proud to join forces with Michelin on the Better Driving Community, which aims to use data to make mobility safer, connected, and more sustainable.
The Better Driving Community is a unique data-driven ecosystem advancing the digital journey to improve road safety. By raising awareness among their employees and the general public, thanks to a connected driving coach solution and tackling innovative use cases contributing to safer mobility, Michelin, CGI and the other partners are building the mobility of tomorrow thanks to the potential of data
As an early member of the Catena-X association, CGI is one of the main contributors to developing and establishing the first global automotive data ecosystem.
Technologically based on the Gaia-X federation services, Catena-X will enable a controlled, automated and verified way to exchange data within the whole automotive supply chain and with chosen partners. This is completely transforming processes in automotive business relations and will make collaboration across different companies the new standard way of working in the industry. An increased, automated and verified flow of data creates the opportunity to gain actual knowledge about CO2 footprints and other ESG-related information, which are among the first operating use cases of Catena-X.
CGI is well known for our Catena-X digital product passport for electric vehicle (EV) batteries. We are working on several, additional use cases to build a foundation for a better and sustainable tomorrow.
German start-up ViveLaCar wanted to transition to a new digital platform for their car subscription services. However, they were challenged with a fast time-to-market, a high total cost of ownership (TCO) and international growth targets. From strategy and implementation to operation, we helped launch four ecommerce platforms for four brands in three countries in just eight months.
