In 2023, CGI partnered with Utility Week to launch the energy Flexibility Forum—an ongoing initiative aimed at accelerating progress in creating dynamic, liquid markets for distributed flexibility, to the ultimate benefit of consumers.

The forum serves as a collaborative platform, bringing together stakeholders from across the energy and utility systems to share perspectives, exchange ideas, and identify actionable solutions for market challenges.

The vital role of the Flexibility Forum

 

CGI’s Vice President Consulting Expert in digital utilities, Rich Hampshire comments: “With NESO advising Government that more than 80% of the near five-fold increase in demand flexibility required to deliver clean power by 2030 will come from the aggregation of the new sources of decarbonised demand – from residential and I&C demand-side response and from smart EV charging – the need to create markets that work for flexibility and enable consumers to feel the benefits of choosing to allow their smart devices and appliances participate in these markets, has never been more urgent. Delivering this vision is a truly whole system challenge. By bringing together leaders from across the distributed flexibility value terrain, the Flexibility Forum provides a unique opportunity to understand the challenges from different perspectives and collaboratively identify the priorities to drive progress at pace."
